The “Hero Shooter” genre tends to feel a bit oversaturated these days. From mainstays like Overwatch 2 and Valorant to newcomers like Marvel Rivals, it feels very difficult for new games to make ground in the genre. Games like the recently shuttered Concord are proof of this, for better or worse. It seems that Theorycraft Games’ attempt at the genre will be available for players sooner than expected.

After successful Closed Beta periods during the Steam Next Fest and other Closed Betas in Korea, Supervive is coming into full Open Beta on November 20th, 2024. There will be servers for Supervive in North America, Korea, Europe, and Asia, and all players during the Open Beta will be able to provide feedback to help guide the game toward a 1.0 release. Here is what the press release says about the upcoming Open Beta:

“Theorycraft will be developing SUPERVIVE in the open with players, using the entire game world as a canvas to thread an evolving experience. In December, they’re already planning a transdimensional winter-themed event to sweep the land, filled with new map evolutions, powers, cosmetics, equipment, storm shifts, and hints at further development to come.

Joe Tung, CEO and co-founder of Theorycraft Games commented on this announcement, stating: “We’re floored by the groundswell of passion and support SUPERVIVE received during Steam Next Fest. After seeing all the new players coming in, how many games they were playing, and the waves of requests we got to leave the servers on… We knew we had to get our Open Beta out there.

Open Beta is a huge milestone for us, but in so many ways it’s just the beginning. From Day 1 we’ve been building SUPERVIVE out in the open with players and we’ll continue to do so—improving the game with every patch—for as long as we have players who want to spend their time with us.”

Whether Supervive will turn out well remains to be seen. However, it seems to have had a pretty solid following during the closed playtests, with over 67 million minutes (roughly 127 years of time) played collectively. Only time will tell if Supervive turns out to be a success story.
