Marvel Mystic Mayhem Announced

Despite not being a fan of everything Marvel creates, I have always been a fan of certain sections of the Marvel-verse. Aside from Marvel’s Midnight Suns, the mystical and esoteric side of the Marvel Universe (much like DC ironically) doesn’t often get the spotlight in gaming. Now, a new collaboration between Marvel and NetEase Games has been revealed that I find pretty interesting.

Marvel Mystic Mayhem is a new mobile game from NetEase Games and Marvel Games. While I’m normally not super interested in mobile games, the concept of this one actually does interest me. Here is what the press release says about Marvel Mystic Mayhem:

“Join forces with iconic Super Heroes as they clash with the sinister forces of Nightmare, the malevolent lord of the Dream Dimension, as he seeks to dominate the waking world. Get a glimpse into the deepest fears of Super Heroes such as Scarlet Witch, Moon Knight, and Captain America as Nightmare transforms their dreams into dangerous dungeons. Drawing energy from the Mindscape, Doctor Strange and Sleepwalker must arm their allies with dream energy to form a three-hero battle team delving into the heart of each harrowing nightmare to avert the collapse of reality.“

Ethan Wang, Senior Vice President of NetEase Games commented on the announcement, stating: “NetEase Games is excited to once again collaborate with Marvel Games to deliver a powerful mobile experience featuring all of your favorite Super Heroes. Continuing our partnership with Marvel Games allows us to leverage our expertise in the mobile space and build world-class games that reach global audiences.”

Haluk Mentes, GM of Marvel Games also responded to the news, adding: “MARVEL Mystic Mayhem continues our long-standing collaboration with the great team at NetEase Games and fully displays our shared passion for crafting amazing games that speak to the breadth of Marvel. NetEase has brought a fresh perspective and we hope players will love the unique style and gameplay within the mysterious and supernatural world of MARVEL Mystic Mayhem.”

Regarding Marvel Mystic Mayhem I hope that NetEase offers a PC version much like other mobile titles from NetEase Games. If they can capture a solid story-focused experience with Marvel Characters in a mystical setting, I think it could be a really fun time. With things like Agatha All Along and Marvel’s Midnight Suns being received well, I think this would be the perfect opportunity to capture more mystical Marvel stories.
