Monday, Jeffrey heard my threats, so we know Prime Gaming for October, and the sports ball game that is named wrong, yeah surprise, a Madden game sold well. Tuesday, Mike Bithell’s second TRON game got announced, which I didn’t hear as much about before it was announced this time. Wednesday, Alpine F1 ruined a fine-nothing livery for some of that Microsoft money, the new Dragon Ball game sold well (shocker), and there is a demo where you can play with a priest. Did I stutter? Thursday, another gaming magazine wants to revive print media, and if you hate your wrists, Mike has a typing tutor demo for you.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store and it is another double-bill for our delectation, too bad one of them is a plain repeat I need to talk about for a fourth time (I think). Invincible Presents: Atom Eve is a visual novel game about the red-haired hero from a second Robert Kirkman adaptation that Steven Yeun stars in (oh my, didn’t The Walking Dead fall off quickly). If you cared about this, you’d have picked it up already because it was available through Epic around its release last year, then again early this year, as well as through Prime Gaming for Epic. Either you have it or you breathe water.
Onto the second game we’ve got, which I think I’ve already superseded in my estimation. A bit more story-focused than the Supermarket Simulator reskin that TCG Card Shop Simulator is, Kardboard Kings: Card Shop Simulator tells the story of a young man who inherits a TCG card shop and eventually plays the card game his dad created. Selling a few cards here or there, making a profit, and eventually finding time to play the in-game TCG game, “Warlock.” The scale is small, the story is big, and the time playing will probably only be a few hours.
All this week you can pick up Kardboard Kings and Invincible Presents: Atom Eve on the Epic Games Store until the morning of the 24th of October. Reminder, next week is the last week some of you will have Epic at the normal time; Next Sunday in most of Europe clocks change, the US doesn’t change until the 3rd of November, and check local lists for clocks changing elsewhere. Next week is another charming little repeat in the form of SMG Studio & Devm Games’ co-op shouting provoker, Moving Out.
