Running for over 25 years, Electronic Games Monthly was a leading source of gaming news and kindling for a fandom that grew from hobbyists and quiet fanatics to a global industry and community. With so many fond memories of gaming magazines in the wake of the closure of many mainstays in the media, a new campaign will celebrate the history of EGM. Just two and a half hours after launching, the Kickstarter reached its goal and continues to update the benefits backers will receive. The Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium is a new book and companion website that honors the legacy and rich content archive of one of the most influential and longest-running video game magazines ever. Pre-orders for the book’s special first edition immediately met a ravenous response from fans of the outlet. Spanning over 320 pages of rich video game history, The EGM Compendium will chart the development of the most noteworthy games, franchises, cultural shifts, and industry trends throughout EGM’s quarter-century publication.
