The latest Dragon Ball game was highly anticipated, and it looks like fans of the manga and anime series really stood by their excitement. The new game, called DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO in its official styling, is an arena brawler not unlike past Dragon Ball video games. The difference here is in the visuals and delivery of the latest game, utilizing the power of Unreal Engine 5 in a magnificent way. Early sales numbers for the game are staggering, so let’s talk about one of the industry’s biggest hits of the fall.

Launching on October 11th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Dragon Ball: Sparkling Zero sold 3 million copies in its first 24 hours on shelves. Fans were excited about this entry’s dynamic game modes, including Episode Battle, where players can re-live storied battles from the globally beloved anime series, and Custom Battles to create, play, and share UGC battles using a robust selection of available characters, stages, and unique items.

Reviews were strong upon the game’s release, but with many of these Bandai Namco arena brawlers, the fandom is driving the interest in this new release. With a new anime within the Dragon Ball universe and plenty of fans of the old series, the franchise is back in peak popularity. Given the rich history of the series, it’s great to have a game like Sparkling Zero that can provide a great brawler but also celebrate the history of every era of the Dragon Ball universe. From sales figures being so strong, it looks like fans agree.
