It’s been rumored for almost as long as those rumors persisted that old Liz had Diana killed, but it does appear hell has frozen over and all the other phrases. Red Dead Redemption and the Undead Nightmare standalone expansion, yes, the 2010 release, not 2004’s Red Dead Revolver, is finally coming to PC later this month after 14 years since it was released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Need more proof? There is a Steam page and everything.
To be honest with ourselves, you’ve already gone and wishlisted it, do you need me to tell you something to sell it to you? Since we’re being honest, I’m willing to predict right now that some people will moan about it since it visually looks similar to that 2010 release instead of the graphical quality of 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2. That doesn’t mean it is limited to the 2010s hardware and otherwise though, something the press release (which no one else is probably looking at) wants to tell you about.
“In collaboration with Double Eleven, this new version adds PC-specific enhancements including native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality.
There’s also support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.”
Other than the platforms, release date, and storefronts Red Dead Redemption is available through, that’s basically it from the press release. No deep dive, no specifics about how recently removed Prison Architect 2 developer Double Eleven not only got the game running on PS4 and Nintendo Switch last year but also made the “impossible” happen. All we’ve got is a trailer of the game you’ve probably already played at least twice, maybe three, or several times at this point.
Available through the Rockstar Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, you can wishlist Red Dead Redemption as well as the Undead Nightmare expansion included ahead of its October 29th PC launch. Here is hoping it is a quality port by Double Eleven, but it will be interesting to see if the same people that moan about Ghost of Tsushima and God of War Ragnarök‘s third-party sign-in requirements keep that same energy with Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare.
