Gaming accessories offer players a variety of ways to enhance our favorite hobby. Some don’t feel necessary, and others leave you wondering how you ever lived without them. Gaming glasses that filter blue light and ease your eyes while hunkering down for long play sessions have always been something I’ve shrugged off, but a recent collaboration with GUNNAR left me curious and ready to give them a try with an open mind. To celebrate the new GUNNAR collaboration with Overwatch 2, here’s a review of the newest line of gaming glasses from the popular manufacturer.
Two new pairs of GUNNAR gaming glasses are designed with the Overwatch fan in mind. The first model, the Overwatch Ultimate glasses, are polymer, low-profile frames designed to fit under headsets. With a rectangle design and flexible frame, comfort and durability are the focus here. There’s also the perk of GUNNAR’s lens tint, which comes in Amber and Clear. Amber blocks 65% of blue light, while the Clear finish blocks 35%. The lens coating also features anti-reflective & smudge-resistant technology to keep your vision clear.
For D.Va fans, the Overwatch D.Va Tokki Edition glasses represent one of the game’s most popular characters. In a cat-eye silhouette with sparkle crystal frames, these are a bit louder style-wise than the Ultimate model. Coming in both the Amber and Clear blue light filtering finishes, these and the Ultimate models can also be fitted with a prescription to allow players the ease of eye protection and prescription-perfect vision.
For someone like myself who doesn’t typically wear blue light gaming glasses, I found the Ultimate Edition pair to be very comfortable. I didn’t notice them with or without headphones on. I actually found myself preferring the experience of playing with them on as opposed to off. In games like Fortnite or Madden 25 where my focus is at 100%, it was nice to have a little relief for my eyes. Even for more casual experiences like Powerwash Simulator, I found them to be really helpful.
At $69 USD for no prescription and $219 for the Ultimate Edition and $125/$275 USD for the D.VA model, you are investing a bit into something you might be on the fence about. Overwatch fans might be willing to take the plunge for the design of these collaboration GUNNAR gaming glasses, but others like myself might not be too sure if these will work for them. I’d say a nice feeler is to consider if your eyes are often tired when gaming, particularly in low-light environments. These could be a huge help.
As someone who wasn’t a huge believer in gaming glasses, I think the GUNNAR Overwatch gaming glasses might be a great place for Overwatch fans or tired-eyed gamers to give this accessory a try. It’s worth noting too that blue light glasses can be very helpful for both TV screens and monitors, so when you’re watching shows, getting work done, or just gaming to your heart’s content, these fun and comfortable glasses might be the thing you need to keep your eyes fresh and your focus on the task at hand.
