I’m glad everyone has finally taken my advice to just do what we did in 2004. Though with the advent of Backpack Hero and some similar ideas, we are getting into the realm of changing the genre and melting it in a pot with others that might sound strange. Take DiceHit Games and Rogue Duck Interactive’s new game, NeoDuel: Backpack Monsters, an upcoming Resident Evil 4-style inventory management PvP auto-battler, “with a monster-trainer twist!” This is what the press release has to say:
“Developed by Turkish indie duo Rogue Duck & DiceHit Games, NeoDuel: Backpack Monsters offers gamers a unique take on auto-battling by introducing Cosmions — cosmic monsters that will need to be placed strategically in your backpack, evolved, and fused to create powerful, unique duel builds.” Going on to note, “The announcement comes with a brand-new trailer giving players a sneak peek at the Cosmions in action and showcasing the heart of what makes NeoDuel a unique and engaging experience.“
Lead developer at DiceHit Games, Bahadir, commented: “NeoDuel: Backpack Monsters is our ode to the strategy and auto-battling genre. We wanted to create a game where players could experiment with builds, create unique combinations, and play on their own time. The Cosmions add a layer of depth, allowing for a plethora of possibilities in every duel.“
The description provided in the press release also notes: “NeoDuel: Backpack Monsters is an innovative PvP inventory auto-battler with a unique monster-trainer twist. Duelists manage a backpack of Cosmions by strategically placing them and creating powerful fusions that defeat their opponents in a round of Duels. With a demo currently available to download on Steam, NeoDuel offers a thrilling blend of cozy and tactical gameplay.”
An interesting mix of genres to say the least, with a charming art style that seems appealing, something about NeoDuel: Backpack Monsters is certainly charming. Despite not being a fan of Auto-Battlers, I’m giving Rogue Duck and DiceHit Games’ new title a second look for sure. Though you don’t have to wait long for its release, as NeoDuel: Backpack Monsters releases on the 30th of September. Only 12 days away. The press release only notes the EU price, that being €11.99, but I think going off of most conversions from Euros to US dollars, that’s about $11.99. However, regional prices do vary.
