I’ve never been a huge fan of life simulation titles like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley. However, I am a sucker for anything with high fantasy elements. Potionomics, developed by Voracious Games, is one that takes full advantage of these classic tropes. Placing you in charge of a magic shop that serves up strange brews to heroes and common folks alike.

Potionomics boasts extensive customization allowing you to fully decorate your store, recruit staff, and gather unique ingredients from among the colorful denizens of Rafta. By far the most interesting aspect of Potionomics for me is the light deckbuilding elements. Each day is an opportunity to make new friends and strengthen relationships, but rather than simply selecting dialogue options, you can choose how to proceed based on various negotiation cards that are acquired by progressing through story events.

Publisher, XSEED Games, announced this week that the Potionomics: Masterwork Edition will be released on October 22nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. The new features and content contained within this edition will come to the PC port of the game simultaneously as a free update.

The physical box set of Potionomics: Masterwork Edition will retail for $49.99. Containing a full-color 120-page artbook, the two-disc soundtrack, and a set of twelve trading cards. The digital version will retail for $29.99 and is available for pre-purchase now.

All versions of the Masterwork Edition will include full voice acting for the protagonist Sylvia as well as other characters. With three new game modes coming to the Masterwork Edition too. Both “Endless” and “Capitalism” modes will test players’ skills with enhanced difficulty and constant waves of customers. On the other hand, “Cozy” difficulty will allow players to sit back and focus on the roleplaying and narrative elements. For those more interested in the romance aspects there is also the addition of “One Love” and “Free Love” options, which unlock unlimited and highly restrictive suitors respectively.
