After 5 years of early access and playing Coffee Stain Studios’ Satisfactory, the alien-world manufacturing simulator has finally hit its 1.0 release. The press release also notes that there were more than 6 million copies sold in that 5-year time period. There isn’t really much to be said about the press release if we’re honest, just details on the latest phase added to the progression tree and new decor pieces added to the building aspect.
The 1.0 release also “delivers a full narrative overhaul complete with mysteries for players to uncover, alongside Tier 9 content, allowing players to harness advanced alien tech.” According to the press release. With players new and old expected to “uncover the mysteries of the alien planet of MASSAGE-2 (A-B)b.” Nah mate, I’m just here to mine like a fiend, being friendly to the cat faces in the scary tunnels and the boar-like creatures that should be singing “When I was a young Warthog!” when they run up to me.
In phase 5, the press release goes on to say, “Players can make use of advanced technologies. In this end-game stage, Portals allow for near-instantaneous transportation across the vast alien lands, and Dimensional Depots offer an efficient option for inventory management. Uniforms have also received some love, as players can now set their character color, and choose between a range of helmets, tool trinkets, and tool skins!” Good, that will make multiplayer easier when shouting across a cleared-out forest to pick me up a load of fuel for the chainsaw.
Though alongside the more pressing examples of finishing off the game for players on Steam and the Epic Games Store, there was also the announcement that the console edition is now in development. How well that will work is a mystery to me as I think being able to access another type of console is fairly important when it comes to certain aspects of Satisfactory’s enjoyment. There aren’t many details yet on the console edition, but Coffee Stain will undoubtedly be releasing updates on that when it is right.
You can download the 1.0 release of Satisfactory right now on Steam and Epic, creating ungodly structures that those big elephant-like creatures will walk through anyway.
