Oh fun, a thing added to Prime Gaming based on a series almost as boring as Dune. Before someone wants to jump down my throat, I like the Middle-earth games (well one anyway), it is the larger series I find about as interesting as a beige, frayed dishrag used for 30 years to wash industrial-sized soup pots. Part of me tried to watch The Rings of Power but after falling asleep to Peter Jackson’s walking tour of New Zealand, I had no hope of maintaining my interest in that. So The Lord of the Rings then?

We’ll start with the one that isn’t really interesting, as it is only available in a select number of countries, and for a very short amount of time via a meh service. Middle-earth: Shadow of War is available right now through Amazon Luna, the game streaming service that most people don’t know they have some access to. Luna is only available to Prime members in the US, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, and Poland. Looking around (never heard of a VPN, what’s that?) I’ve seen it is also available in the UK.

For those of us who have touched grass and other things, GOG is going to be your friend as you can pick up a code for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition. AKA the one that wasn’t so full of microtransactions and that whole bought-off reviews thing with YouTubers. I think most of them weren’t actually reviewing the second one just playing it to show it off. So yeah, Middle-earth: Darkened Door is the good one you want to play. Though it is oddly not available in Japan and South Korea, apparently.

The only other addition to Prime Gaming thanks to The Rings of Power is the LEGO The Lord of the Rings game from 2013 via GOG, not based on the books directly but Peter Jackson’s trilogy. This means you have to suffer a LEGO game doing the one thing that didn’t make them popular with the Star Wars series, voice acting. Gladly it is just lines ripped directly from the films with additional work by people you’ve never heard of like Bob Joles. I mean, what’s he ever done, play an antagonist in my favorite Final Fantasy? Next, you’ll tell me he voiced Brenda Song’s dad.

These additions to Prime Gaming are in addition to August’s collection, which included Arcade Paradise, Loop Hero, En Garde!, and Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. To name a few.
