Tetris Forever to Feature Over 15 Playable Games

I love it when a studio builds enough of a reputation that the sheer mention of their name means I’m all-in on a release. Even if the Tetris name wasn’t attached to the upcoming Tetris Forever, the fact that Digital Eclipse is involved is reason enough for me to be excited. As a collection and celebration of one of the most iconic games of all time, Tetris Forever will pinpoint the key parts of the famous game that resonate with fans through a variety of Tetris experiences, including a brand-new game.

Players will journey through four decades of Tetris with more than 15 playable classic games, including several that are being released outside of Japan for the first time. Included in the collection is also the brand-new Tetris Time Warp. In this original game variant from Digital Eclipse, players will ‘warp’ between different eras of Tetris in real time to experience a variety of classic graphics, playstyles, and game mechanics. Like other retro collections, there will also be bonuses that go beyond the games themselves.

Digital Eclipse is including a look at the story behind Tetris in more than 90 minutes of all-new documentary featurettes. Fans will explore the lifelong friendship and creative partnership between Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov and The Tetris Company founder Henk Rogers, and dive into the remarkable odyssey that shaped one of the most iconic games in history. These featurettes will be built through the game modes in an interactive timeline that includes video featurettes, photos, and original ads.

The announcement of Tetris Forever was a highlight of the August 2024 Nintendo Direct for me, and I’m happy we won’t have to wait long for it to arrive on our favorite consoles. Tetris Forever launches on PC via Steam and GOG, and on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, and Xbox One and Series X|S later this year in 2024.
