Pompeii: The Legacy Announced for Steam

I’ve always been fascinated by the story of the city of Pompeii. There’s something about it, the concept of an entire city being entombed in ash, that is terrifying but morbidly interesting. What would it be like to try and revitalize such a location? To restore it and give the city a new legacy?

Well, that is exactly what Siscia Games wants to explore with their newly announced game, Pompeii: The Legacy. Announced for Steam today, this City-Builder will have you in the shoes of a Roman leader, attempting to rebuild. Here is what the press release says about the game and its announcement:

“Siscia Games is excited to announce the Steam reveal of their city-building game, Pompeii: The Legacy. This unique title, set in the Roman Empire, challenges players to rebuild the legendary city of Pompeii after its catastrophic destruction in 79 AD.

Pompeii: The Legacy offers players a richly detailed and historically inspired campaign that spans over 200 years. As the head of a Roman family, players will navigate the complex social hierarchy of the Roman Empire, interact with historical figures such as emperors Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius, and rebuild the city of Pompeii from the ashes.

Today marks the official Steam reveal of Pompeii: The Legacy. The reveal trailer, now live on Steam and YouTube, offers a first glimpse into the game’s dramatic narrative. The teaser showcases the rise, destruction, and rebirth of Pompeii, capturing the essence of the city’s resilience and the challenges players will face in rebuilding it from the ashes.”

As far as City-Builders go, I love this concept. It is more than just “build a random city” and gives you a chance to restore one of history’s greatest tragic disasters. As of right now, Pompeii: The Legacy is set to release sometime in 2025. Hopefully, we’ll know more in the next few months.
