Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is an NES-Era Throwback

There’s nothing quite like nostalgia for your childhood favorites. Whether it’s a show, a movie, or a video game, adulthood feels like a never-ending chase to recapture some of that magic. Luckily for 90s kids, one of the most popular cartoons of the final decade of the 20th century is about to get an NES-era-influenced game starring some of the most famous babies of the 90s. With players on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One. and Nintendo Switch getting a chance to tear through Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland in a few weeks. Here’s what we know:

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, the retro-inspired puzzle-platforming adventure based on the beloved ‘90s Nickelodeon franchise, was developed through a collaboration between The MIX Games and WALLRIDE under license from Paramount. With appearances from all of the kids, Reptar the dinosaur, and even Cynthia the doll, it’s going to be fun to spend time with characters that were very formative for a lot of now 30 and 40-somethings.

The press release notes: “Navigate the crew through six stages filled with challenges and obstacles. Switch between Tommy, Chuckie, and the twins Phil and Lil, each with distinct abilities and playstyles. Discover collectibles, solve puzzles, dodge pesky enemies, and engage in high-speed chases. Topple bosses in iconic locations from the cartoon, like the Ice Cream Factory, Haunted House, Jungle, and more.” You can also team up with a friend for some couch co-op and spend time with the Rugrats together.

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland launches digitally on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4|5, and Nintendo Switch on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One for USD $24.99. Physical editions for Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, and Xbox Series X are available through Limited Run.
