This week everyone was treated to some great news from Square Enix. Final Fantasy XVI, the latest in the long-running series, will be coming to PC next month on September 17th. Taking place in the world of Valisthea, the game centers around the mighty beast known as Eikon and the Dominant’s men and women who can call upon the powers of these god-like entities.
Final Fantasy XVI will be available through Steam and the Epic Games store, and for those who can’t wait, a free demo is available now on both storefronts. This demo includes the opening prologue, which takes place during the protagonist Clive’s adolescent years.
In addition to the roughly two hours of story content, the demo includes a special Eikonic Challenge mode. This mode is unlocked after completing the main portion of the demo and gives players a taste of the expanded combat system in the full game. Clive will gain access to a deeper pool of Eikon abilities which allow him to unleash devastating attacks. The mode will also showcase some of the late-game boss battles and story content.
Additionally, Square Enix announced that with this new port of Final Fantasy XVI, players can still purchase the complete edition which contains the recently released DLC chapters: “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide.” The collection will be available at a discounted price when compared to purchasing the chapters individually along with the base game, so needless to say, it’s a great deal.
Those who pre-purchase the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI will receive a few nice bonus items too. These include the Brave Blade weapon, a Cait Sith Charm accessory which will provide bonus currency, and the Sixteen Bells Orchestrion Roll.
Final Fantasy XVI is currently available for PS5.
