This week Level Infinite the publisher behind titles such as PUBG Mobile, Dune: Spice Wars, and more has decided to show off a brief glimpse of a new title that will be debuting at Gamescom. Exoborne is an upcoming open-world looter shooter in development for PC and consoles which was announced during the Game Awards last year. With today’s announcement came a short gameplay trailer showcasing the action and a bit of the open world.

Taking place in a dystopian version of the United States that is now plagued by extreme weather the world of Exoborne is constantly evolving with new events and missions around every corner. The basic elevator pitch for Exoborne taken from the press release is as follows. “Players take on the role of Reborn, extraordinary survivors able to use the powerful Exo-Rigs. They thrive in a world plagued by warring factions, deadly elemental chaos, and other hostile Reborn.

Utilizing their Exo-Rig abilities the Reborn not only survive the fierce forces of nature but channel that raw power into combat and movement.” As you undertake missions and scavenge for loot the challenge will progressively increase. If you by chance fall to your foes before returning safely to home base then you’ll lose everything. It’s very reminiscent of games like Outriders, Titanfall, and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. This comparison is only further enforced when you learn that dynamic verticality and movement is a key aspect of gameplay.

Level Infinite confirmed the game will be a centerpiece of their booth at Gamescom and promised an in-depth look at gameplay along with a special data treasure hunt event which will be exclusive to attendees.

With so many of these types of games on the market, It’s hard for me to see how Exoborne really stands out. I suppose the differences arise within the execution and extraction elements but so far it looks lackluster. Nonetheless, if you are interested in Exoborne you can sign up for future beta tests on the homepage here.

I've been playing games since I was a little kid. I have a soft spot for Nintendo titles and RPG's but play all kinds of titles across a variety of platforms. Outside of games I love to play music and practice martial arts. You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well.
