Dragon Ball fans like myself certainly have a lot to look forward to this year. In addition to the highly anticipated Sparking Zero set to release this year, Bandai Namco has also launched an announcement for another new project set in Akira Toriyama’s universe. Dragon Ball Project: Multi is an upcoming free-to-play team game that looks to bring the MOBA genre to longtime fans.

Though the game seems to be geared toward mobile devices, I’d be lying if I wasn’t at least somewhat intrigued. Dragon Ball is a franchise that I feel would work exceptionally well in this genre given the huge roster of characters with unique abilities and fighting styles. Not only that but I could see the quest for the Dragon Balls becoming a core mechanic. Perhaps bonuses or stat buffs will be rewarded to the team that gathers them the quickest.

As far as concrete information on Project: Multi, Bandai Namco has confirmed that matches will be 4v4 and will revolve around strategic combat and capturing objectives. Players will contend against one another as well as a variety of bosses in order to power up over the course of a match. Characters are grouped into three distinct roles: Tank, Damage, and Technical, the latter of which is your usual support role that also has access to disruptive abilities.

The first beta test for this upcoming game will be running through Steam, Google Play and the App Store beginning on August 19th and 20th and concluding on September 2nd and 3rd. The countries eligible to take part in this test are as follows: The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, and South Korea. The German and South Korean test will be limited exclusively to mobile platforms while the other regions have the option to play on PC.

As of now, those who participate in the beta will not receive any special bonuses or rewards and all progress made in the beta version will be reset on release of the final build. Bandai Namco promises to reveal more details regarding Project: Multi, including the official title at a later date. If you would like to follow the news or sign up for the beta you can view the official website.

I've been playing games since I was a little kid. I have a soft spot for Nintendo titles and RPG's but play all kinds of titles across a variety of platforms. Outside of games I love to play music and practice martial arts. You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well.
