It feels like I’m on Metroidvania watch here at Phenixx Gaming, and if you’re a fan of the subgenre and a Nintendo Switch gamer, I have good news. One of the most cozy yet satisfying games released this year is coming to the Switch this week. In Magical Delicacy, you play as a witch who looks to grow her skills as she settles in a brand-new town. With gorgeous pixel art, it’s hard to think of a game in the Stardew vein that’s more wholesome, so get ready to cook and craft later this month.

“Magical Delicacy invites you to play as the young witch Flora, who travels to the adventurer’s town of Grat to grow her magical skills and fulfill her dream of becoming a full-fledged witch. Upon arriving, she takes up shop to cook meals and potions for the diverse cast of locals,” the press release notes. Flora discovers that there’s a story to this town as well as plenty of mysteries to unravel as Grat goes from a new, exciting village to a true home. While PC and Xbox gamers have Magical Delicacy already, Switch players are just about ready to jump into the action.

All of your favorite crafting elements are here. As well as your trading and questing for recipes and ingredients, you navigate a cooking system that leaves enough room to get creative. As you expand the story of Grat and Flora’s adventures, you’ll be able to upgrade your kitchen and decorate your space in a way that not only matches your style but also looks incredible with the game’s pixel graphics. At this point, you’re probably wondering where the Metroidvania elements come in.

When you’re exploring Grat, seeking out new ingredients, and even potentially encountering some less-than-appealing inhabitants of your new world, you’ll traverse a 2D plane in the form of a platformer. It’s a fun way to mix up the gameplay loop of making food and potions with a bit more action. In terms of cozy yet creative games, Magical Delicacy is a great time and certainly a fitting addition to your Switch library.

Magical Delicacy is now available for purchase on PC via Steam, and Xbox One and Series X|S for $24.99 and available now to Xbox Game Pass holders. The game will launch on Nintendo Switch on August 15.
