The Indie horror scene is growing day by day. From mascot horror to survival horror, the genre is developing in leaps and bounds. Perp Games and Deadbolt Interactive have finally revealed a release date for Pneumata, a new Indie horror game.

Pneumata will be released on August 20th, 2024. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It will be a digital-only release, though I’m sure if it gains enough attention, a physical release could be in the cards. Here is what the press release says about Pneumata:

“Compared favorably by multiple media to the Resident Evil series, Pneumata is a psychological survival horror, dreamed up, designed by[,] and developed by a solo developer. This remarkable ‘Passion Project’ draws from his love of and experience playing, many different horror games over the years.

Prepare to question what is reality, and what is insanity in one of the scariest psychological horrors in years. The tenants are going missing, screams echo[,] and blood seeps through the walls of Clover Hill. As a detective, unravel the truth that lays within and recover your fragmented memories, or succumb to the horrors that lurk in the shadows within this sinister blend of Survival & Psychological horror.”

I think we need more horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill out there. That particular style of gameplay leaves plenty of room for scares and in-depth mechanics. The visuals of Pneumata are visceral and downright eerie.

Overall, the game looks interesting. Here’s hoping that Pneumata’s August 20th release goes well. Regardless, horror fans have something to look forward to very soon.
