Steam festivals usually bring about a variety of interesting demos. Currently, there is a Steam Pixelated Adventures Festival until August 5th, with various games on show. One such game is Wren’s Resurgence, a new Action Platformer with a demo available now.

According to Steam, the Pixelated Adventures Festival is “a celebration of games with pixel art and aesthetics.” The festival will run for one week, wrapping up on August 5th. Wren’s Resurgence has a free demo available now, though it isn’t confirmed whether or not it will go away after the festival. Check out what the press release has to say about the game here:

Wren’s Resurgence is a 2D action platformer where Wren must fight her way through the Yokai-infested lands in order to rescue her sister Swan. With the evil force’s tyrannical grasp on the island, it’s up to Wren to brandish her katana and bring peace back to the land.

Along her journey, Wren will meet a number of seemingly friendly faces, some of whom will aid her on the adventure ahead. Wren is a nimble warrior, with fast-paced movement and the agility to double jump, dash[,] and climb up walls. Shrines to one of the realm’s greatest warriors, the legendary Masamune, house some of the long-deceased master’s renowned blades, which Wren can wield in her battles.”

Soliloquy Games is a solo development team that plans to release Wren’s Resurgence sometime this year. Currently there is no word yet on when the game will be officially released in full. Regardless, I’m very interested in the action elements available across each of the 10 levels that are currently planned for Wren’s Resurgence.

It seems like the developer might have something interesting (or at least somewhat unique) on their hands here. Only time will tell if it actually is worth your while, but playing the demo might give you an idea. You’ve got some time this week, so give it a try and let us know what you think in the comments.
