Physics-driven Rogue-like Galactic Glitch Now in Early Access

Rogue-likes are all the rage lately, and a huge reason for that is their replayability. Like farm sims, turn-based RPGs, and other genre-centric games, the key differences in gameplay and presentation set Rogue-likes apart. After 10 years of development, German indie developer Crunchy Leaf Games has launched Galactic Glitch, a Rogue-like that aims to stand out via physics-based combat and twin-stick shooter gameplay. Here’s what we know as the game launches on Steam Early Access:

Crunchy Leaf Games is a studio that dates back to the heyday of flash games. The studio’s new release, Galactic Glitch, embodies elements of the popular flash game Bubble Tanks with the nonstop action of popular Rogue-likes like Dead Cells. Galactic Glitch is a top-down arena combat experience utilizing grav-gun mechanics to exploit physics and use the enemy’s attacks against themselves. The walls even allow you to slingshot attacks off the arena at opponents, leaving plenty of room for player creativity.

The 2D graphics and intense soundtrack mimic some of my favorite releases from back in the Xbox Live Arcade days. The threat of nonstop enemies, permadeath, and infinite ways to manipulate your environment provides the space that gamers love to explore with mechanics to form a strategy for success. Many enemies are constructed in parts as well, meaning that you’ll be trying to dismantle enemies part by part, which requires a strategy in itself. As you gain powers and abilities, be ready to change your strategy and approach on the fly.

In a crowded genre, I think there’s a ton to help Galactic Glitch stand out. The visuals, physics-based gameplay, and replayability are immediate perks to me as a huge Rogue-like fan.
