If I could play the sounds of the seventh circle of hell, I think that would sum up all that I’ve got to say about Jeffrey. I didn’t want to be back as quick as this just for the giggles. As I said the other day, you can pick up some stuff in-game with Prime Gaming, as well as Prime-exclusive daily challenges for Waffle, Nerdle, Framed, and more. With all the formal tripe out the way, let’s get to what is available in the latter half of Prime Gaming for July.

July 18th, there are three offerings, the first of which is available through the Amazon Games App, Youtubers Life 2. The sequel to 2017’s YouTubers Life by U-Play online, 2021’s Youtubers Life 2 continues to reference memes more dead than CPMs after Logan Paul took a camera to Japan. It is not a highlight of the month for sure.

Epic this time, with the second offering being that of Tripwire Interactive’s 2021 RPG that I love for one reason and one PC Gaming Show-related reason I keep mentioning only. I think it was the 2019 PC Gaming Show and Frankie did a link about Maneater and how it was her favorite activity on the weekend. The groan by boring men sitting in that theater setup is the kind of thing that can sell you on a Shark-based RPG.

Being serious though, Maneater is a great if sometimes overplayed RPG about going from a small pup to the titan of the ocean. Maybe even leaning to breathe C02 to eat golfers, you know normal things you do in your day. It is difficult to explain Maneater beyond “you eat people, you grow big, you eat more things.” Much like Final Fantasy VII, it is practically a terrorism simulator but without tasty meat held out of reach in a brown vest or white tank top.

Speaking of wanting to sleep with questionable characters, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition is the final game of the 18th, available this time through the Amazon Games App. Chances are, if you’ve been around for long enough you’ll already have this one alongside its 2000 sequel from BioWare. Released in 1998, I think it goes almost without saying that the title, based on the second edition of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, might be a bit dated in comparison to Larian’s Astarion/Karlach dating-sim with fire and biting.

Onto the 25th of July this time out and we’ll start with the two GOG codes you’ll get. Cat Quest II is here simply because there is a third game about playing as the things that keep knocking stuff off the coffee table and pretending they are cute as a result. The 2019 sequel to The Gentlebro’s 2017 title, which was free on Epic just a couple of weeks ago is more of the same with improvements for those looking for a tighter combat system and an improved story. Can I stop talking about Cat Quest games now for a while?

From the things that charge up and down the hallway at midnight, fighting for supremacy over wherever I’ve sat that day, to Midnight Fight Express. Matthew reviewed Jacob Dzwinel’s 2022 title not long after it had been released. I have to agree with him, I do feel like Roddy Piper, though I’m actually Scottish and not a Canadian cosplaying. A combat system that is quite visceral makes this one as you pick up objects and throw them across the room before kicking someone in the ribs; ahh, it just feels like home.

The final game of the month according to this update (I’ll set fire to Jeffrey if there is another) is a programming-like flow-chart logistics puzzle, Masterplan Tycoon. Essentially a resource management title, you are creating things such as fish, bricks, stone, and so on, so you have to fill orders, but every now-and-then some missions can be as simple as “get X amount of stone over to another part of the island”. Not the most complex game of its kind, but certainly one of the most visually appealing ones that puts your logic skills to the test. Available through the Amazon Games app on the 25th.
