Monday, another sale and showcase of tactical titles was announced to the excitement of a man named Clive from Dunstable. Tuesday, Atari SA (Infrogrames, previously) got the corpse of 70s gaming out of the closet, blowing off the dust. Wednesday, Prime Gaming returned a week early with such highlights as Hitman: Absolution and Call of Juarez this month, Mickey is using a paintbrush again, and sure, you won’t look like you’ve been huffing meth while wearing Overwatch “gaming glasses.” Thursday, David talks about The War Within release.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store this week we’ve only got one to talk about, Sunless Skies: Sovereign Edition. Released in 2019, the gothic horror RPG is a sequel to Failbetter Games’ 2015 title, Sunless Sea. Noted for its writing, Sunless Skies isn’t known for its combat and gameplay-focused elements, which can put off some. I want to get excited about Failbetter’s previous game before Mask of the Rose, but it is difficult to sell someone on a top-down gothic adventure.
All this week you can pick up Sunless Skies: Sovereign Edition on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, the 4th of July. Moving onto what is next for us, we’re talking about something I’ve previously reviewed and maybe never really got the same way others might have. The Falconeer, Tomas Sala’s 2020 open-world attack-bird ’em up. Stylized heavily, The Falconeer brings all the atmosphere just not the immediate engagement to pull in everyone.
