Yesterday, Limited Run Games did its annual LRG3 and announced a boatload of new products that will be coming their way over the next year. Let’s dive in and see what they announced!
The remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces is getting a physical release. This remaster features improved graphics as well as cutscenes, but also keeps the feel of the original game. Pre-orders for the physical releases start today, June 21st for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.
Nearly forty years after its first release, The Valis Collection is getting a physical release this summer. This collection will include the first four games in the series. It is unclear what consoles it will be on, so we will have to wait for that info.
A platformer where rain is the enemy, you play as a creature exploring a devastated world. You must outsmart a myriad of strange creatures while discovering what happened to this world. Rain World will be coming to Limited Run this year.
Fighting Force, the 3D Beat ‘Em Up series is getting a physical release in 2025. It will release on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Steam. Originally released in 1997 and 1999, these games look to still be extremely fun and are certain to bring a new generation of gamers to it.
Getting a digital and physical publication from Limited Run, Renaine is a game that shares similarities with Shovel Knight and Megaman. It will be coming to Steam and the Nintendo Switch this Fall.
While Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus already had a physical release on the Switch, it required you to make a 9 GB download to get the final chapters of the game. Limited Run is planning to release a brand new physical version with the entire game on the cartridge. It will come out later this year and will hopefully have some unique collectibles with it
A brand-new GI Joe game is hitting the Nintendo Switch and Steam next year. Following the classic 2.5 D Beat ‘Em Ups, GI Joe: Wrath of Cobra will allow up to 4 players to combine forces and defeat the evil Cobra Commander.
A game that was previously never released in Western markets, Assault Suit: Leynos 2 is a classic mech game where you go through stages defeating foes. Your customized mech will be ready to roll out later this year on PS4, PS5, and the Nintendo Switch.
A new game in the Snow Bros series, Snow Bros: Wonderland is a single-player platforming game. From solving puzzles to defeating enemies to customizing your character, there’s plenty for you to do in this game. It will be released in 2024 to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5.
A lovable character from the past is blasting his way onto the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and X|S, and Steam later this year. While nothing was shown beyond the announcement graphic, it makes sense Gimmick! 2 is to come out since Limited Run re-released the first game just a year ago.
In an unusual move for Limited Run, they are releasing C-Smash VRS to the PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest. This is a reimagining of Cosmic Smash from the Sega NAOMI and Dreamcast. At this time, it is unclear if Limited Run will be helping with the Meta Quest version of the game.
A physical version of Evening Star’s 2023 game is on its way from Limited Run. Made by some of the Sonic Mania developers, Penny’s Big Breakaway will be getting the physical treatment later this year.
A physical re-release of an updated version of Beyond Good & Evil is on its way. While the next game is still potentially lingering in development, this version of the game will likely bring a whole new generation of players to its story. Preorders for the Collector Edition are starting on July 12th and will be available for Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
A brand new Beat ‘Em Up game taking place in the Jay & Silent Bob universe is coming to us soon. A release date and platforms weren’t given, but gameplay shows a sense of humor that fits perfectly with the films in Jay & Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch.
Another Beat Em Up game, this game brings us all the way back to 1992. Based on the animated show and 1984’s The Toxic Avenger, Toxic Crusaders sees you taking on the role of a few unusual superheroes as they clean up Tromaville’s streets. There’s no word yet on platforms or a release date beyond it coming to Steam sometime this year.
The classic Hitman game, Hitman: Blood Money Reprisal, is getting a re-release with what looks like smoother graphics and potentially improved gameplay. There’s no platform information yet, but we have a release window for Fall 2024.
After roughly 24 years, Fear Effect is coming back. While this game hasn’t been improved looks-wise, this will allow you to experience the game in an authentic-looking way. No release date was given, but platforms include Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Steam.
While already announced for most consoles and in early access on Steam, Starship Troopers: Extermination found its way onto LRG3 2024. No details were given on a physical release, but with a time frame of Summer 2024, we are bound to get more info rather soon.
The beloved Zombie slayer, Lollipop Chainsaw RePop, is getting a physical release through Limited Run. Pre-orders are starting July 26th, but sadly there doesn’t seem to be much in terms of a Collector’s Edition for this game. Platforms are Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
A game that was previously announced, Double Shake gameplay was shown. While a release window of 2025 was given, there was no mention of available platforms beyond Steam.
While this game was announced in the past, we got a better look at what kind of acting will be in Ghosts. A choose-your-own-adventure FMV game using recorded footage of actors, this is a different take on this format compared to what we have seen in recent years. Ghosts is coming to PC, Mac, and Consoles in 2025.
Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland was shown off in the presentation even though orders through the Limited Run’s site are already done. You can still pre-order the standard version of the game on Amazon and it looks to be coming to PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on August 16th.
Previously announced last year, the GEX Trilogy has been on many collectors’ minds since it was announced. We now have a release window for pre-orders of Fall 2024. It will come to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
Continuing the Limited Run love of this special genie, Shantae Risky Revolution got a gameplay showcase. Nothing else was announced about this title.
A side scrolling action game, Ninja Five-O was released for the GameBoy in 2003. Through the power of Carbon Engine, it is coming to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 with pre-orders starting July 5th. It appears to have no Collectors Edition for those seeking something more.
Clock Tower Rewind is a classic horror game announced last year and was shown off again. With pre-orders coming to a close soon, this trailer helps to serve as a reminder to those who may have forgotten to place their order already.
Both Tomba! Games were announced today. Tomba! was announced to have an August 1st release date for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and on Steam, with physical pre-orders for Switch and PS5 starting July 19th. Toomba! 2 cinematics were shown, but no release date was given for the same platforms that Tomba! will be on.
While the exact Bubsy games that will be included in the Bubsy: The Purrfect Collection weren’t revealed, it was revealed that it is being made by using Limited Run’s proprietary Carbon Engine. It will be released for Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
