My Time at Sandrock Launches Cross-Play Multiplayer

You can’t throw a digital rock within a digital games store without hitting a cozy life sim. While many exist, one of my favorites of late is My Time at Sandrock. The studios behind the farming, fishing, and all-around frontier sim have announced that online cross-play multiplayer is now available for Xbox Series X|S and PC players with Switch and PS5 settlers getting the feature later this summer. If you haven’t tried the game yet, there’s even better news: you can try it now on Xbox Games Pass. Here’s the latest!

My Time at Sandrock is a wholesome sandbox life sim where you essentially aim to take a Wild West settlement and build it out into a booming town. There are story elements and quests as well as a ton of different items to craft, customize, and decorate around your town. As you can imagine, these sorts of activities could be even more fun with friends, which is why the arrival of cross-play multiplayer is a great addition. If you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and a few friends, you can try the brand-new mode out right now.

Starting today, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC players will be able to fight, build, farm, fish, and terraform together in a dedicated co-op sandbox mode. This mode is separate from the single-player campaign and allows four players to play the game together in a special town instance located on a dedicated server which saves progress even after the host goes offline. I haven’t had a chance to check out the new game mode, but I am eager to see how things work. As a fan of the base game, I’m sure I’ll have fun with friends in this cozy world.
