Editor’s note: This article will only cover the main show announcement from this year’s Ubisoft Forward. Any announcements during the pre-show won’t be detailed.
The latest in a long string of video conferences during the E3 replacement, this year’s Ubisoft Forward event revealed some new details and gameplay regarding upcoming titles. There are a decent chunk of announcements in the main show to get through so let’s not waste any time.
The main show kicked off with an extended look at some gameplay for Star Wars: Outlaws. Outlaws certainly is a game that has the potential to be quite fun. The newest gameplay highlighted ship combat, exploration, stealth, as well as melee and ranged combat.
Next up came a short teaser for XDefiant. This is a free-to-play FPS and this trailer looked at some of the upcoming content such as maps, weapons, and a new faction, the GSK. Players can also expect tons of new progression rewards and a new game mode in “capture-the-flag.” XDefiant plans to launch season one on July 2nd.
Skull and Bones, the open-world pirate game, will be receiving new seasonal content. Dubbed “Chorus of Havoc,” this season will bring new story content in the form of the two Sea Lords. Defeating them will unlock new loot along with the exclusive ship called, The Brig.
New enemy types come in the form of a sea monster named Lestari. New features such as fleet management, ship upgrades, and additional solo and PVE game modes will also be added. The presentation wrapped up with an announcement for the next season “Into the Dragon’s Wake,” which will bring an Eastern theme to the waters of Skull and Bones along with a 5v5 PVP mode.
The next segment of the presentation focused on the Prince of Persia series. I’m happy to see Ubisoft return to this franchise as it’s always been one of my favorites. This segment kicked off with an announcement for a free update to Prince of Persia: Lost Crown along with a future story DLC.
The update will add the “Divine Trials” to the game, which offers players the chance to put their combat and platforming skills to the test across a variety of scenarios. This update is available now. On the other hand, you’ll have to wait until September to dive into the new DLC “The Mask of Darkness.”
The Rogue Prince of Persia which just released a few weeks ago will also receive a new update called the “Temple of Fire.” In addition to a new biome to explore this update offers new weapons, items, and enemies to add further variety to each run.
Finally, the segment ended with a short announcement for the upcoming Sands of Time remake, which is slated to release sometime in 2026.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be receiving a new story pack called “The Sky Breaker,” which is set to release July 16th. This story begins when the RDA invades during the Na’vi Festival of Games and gives you a chance to explore the great plains regions of Pandora.
Shifting to focus on new content coming to the open-world racing title The Crew: Motorfest‘s fourth season. Beginning in July of this year this update will be the final one for year one. It will focus primarily on vehicle customization. However, Ubisoft is already planning ahead for year two which will begin with season 5 and the addition of a new map set in Hawaii.
Season 5 will also debut a brand new PVE mode called “The Chase Squad,” which is set to launch in November of 2024.
The first and only new game announcement came as Anno 117: Pax Romana. The game is set to release for PC and console in 2025 and promises to deliver a detailed look at the Roman Empire. Though no gameplay was shone I imagine this will take on the form of a strategy title.
Finally, this presentation wrapped up with an extended look at some gameplay for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. The latest entry in the long-running series is set to release on November 15th for PC and consoles. The gameplay trailer highlighted the different playstyles of the two protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. While Yasuke favors direct confrontation and employs heavy weaponry, Naoe plays more like the traditional protagonists utilizing stealth and various tools to easily traverse environments.
That’s all for today, it certainly was not the most surprising showcase in terms of reveals but it certainly was nice to see more support given to some of Ubisoft’s better IPs. If you’d like to watch the main show in its entirety, we’ve linked that below:
