Arsene Lupin – Once a Thief Gets Announced

Microids have taken it upon themselves to bring classic franchises to life in video game form. From The Smurfs to Agatha Christie novels, they’ve worked with developers to bring classics to an interactive medium. Now, it seems that the Gentleman Thief: Arsene Lupin is next on the list.

Announced this week, Microids is working with Blazing Griffin (developer of the Hercule Poirot games) to develop Arsene Lupin – Once a Thief. The game is scheduled to be release on PC and all major consoles in late 2024. Here is what the press release says about the announcement:

“Arsene Lupin – Once A Thief offers an immersive journey into the world of the iconic gentleman-burglar. Delve into these iconic tales drawn from the work of Maurice Leblanc to discover how the legend was forged. Experience Arsene Lupin’s transformation from whimsical burglar to legendary hero.

The narrative unfolds through captivating fireside conversations between Arsene Lupin and the author, Maurice Leblanc. Lupin recounts his past exploits to Leblanc, allowing players to actively participate in these renowned escapades.

In this adventure-puzzle game, dive into a captivating journey that explores the early life, loves[,] and crimes of the iconic gentleman thief. Immerse yourself in his famous tales, playing as both Lupin and Detective Ganimard; his tireless antagonist, offering unique perspectives on legendary stories like ‘The Arrest of Arsène Lupin’ and ‘Herlock Sholmes Arrives Too Late’.”

Personally, I haven’t had the chance to dive into the classic Arsene Lupin tales myself. As such, I’m pretty excited to see them unfold in a new game developed by Blazing Griffin. The Hercule Poirot games are a lot of fun, so seeing a new classic adaptation by Blazing Griffin is an exciting prospect for me.
