Continuing the trend of interesting collaborations between IPs, this week it was announced COD: Modern Warfare III will receive a host of cosmetics and gameplay elements from the massively popular Anime series Mobile Suit Gundam. I’ve recently just started getting into this universe myself, so I’m happy to see it get recognition from another big franchise.

Kicking off this June, Modern Warfare III and Warzone players will be able to purchase some exclusive Operator skins based on classic characters from the Gundam universe.

These include popular suits such as the RX-78-2 piloted by protagonist Amuro Ray, the MS-06S Zaku II piloted by Char Anznable, and the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury series. Each suit will also come with some themed weapons. Amuro’s suit is appropriately equipped with the beam rifle, beam saber, and shield while Char’s Zaku comes with a machine gun, warship destroyer rifle, and the Heat Hawk melee weapon. Finally, the Gundam Aerial will be outfitted with the aerial beam rifle, rebuild rifle, and Escutcheon shield.

However, by far the best aspect of these unique skins comes with the special finishing moves and unique death effects. The RX-78-2 has the “Newtype Finisher” move while Zaku II can unleash the “Searing Slash.” Unfortunately, it does seem that the Aerial suit doesn’t come equipped with a unique move instead opting to provide players with additional decals, stickers, emblems, and themed loading screens.

Throughout this event, all players will receive a variety of progression rewards including the likes of weapon blueprints, weapon camo, stickers, emblems, and weapon charms. All of these items will be themed towards the Gundam franchise as well.

The Gundam-themed skins will be available for a limited time throughout Season 4 in June.  For more details surrounding the latest update coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Warzone, you can read through the official blog. Both games are available now on PS4 & 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC; additionally, this collaboration will also be available on the Mobile version of Call of Duty: Warzone.
