I love cooking, both in games and in my daily life. Merging cooking and Metroidvania gameplay (such as Dungeon Munchies) is also an easy way to catch my attention. It seems that we finally have a release window for Magical Delicacy, which attempts to merge the two concepts in an all-new release.

Whitethorn Games has announced that Magical Delicacy will be released this Summer. While we don’t know the specific date yet, I’m eager to see how things unfold for this cooking Metroidvania. I’m even more excited about the accessibility focus that Whitethorn Games is making, as they’ve detailed several options they plan for launch. Here is what the press release has to say about Magical Delicacy.

“Get ready for a delectable adventure as the highly anticipated Metroidvania-lite meets wholesome cooking game, Magical Delicacy, is coming to PC and Xbox — available day one with Xbox Game Pass — this summer!

Take on the role of the young witch Flora, who travels to the adventurer’s town of Grat to grow her magical skills and cook enchanting delicacies for the townsfolk. Collect an assortment of inspiring ingredients from shops, foraging through the town, and by growing them in your garden, cook up a storm in your upgradeable kitchen using a variety of tools and deliver your meals to fulfill the orders from hungry townsfolk. Explore the unfamiliar town of Grat, learn new ways to traverse, discover secrets, and experience a unique and witchy world one dish at a time.”

If you’d like to know about Magical Delicacy’s accessibility options, the developers have made a list you can check out on their website. I love any attempt at making games more accessible, and Magical Delicacy looks like a ton of fun. Here’s hoping the release is earlier in the Summer rather than later.
