Skybound Developing New Invincible Title

I briefly touched on the potential of the Invincible comic series within the gaming industry back when Skybound released the Atom Eve visual novel. Now it seems my wishes have been granted. This week Skybound Entertainment has opened a regulation A+ crowdfunding campaign. The main purpose of this is to raise funding for the development of a triple-A video game set within the Invincible Universe.

Skybound plans to lead the development of the new Invincible title. So far the team consists of 30 people, most of whom are previous employees of studios such as Activision-Blizzard, EA, and Amazon Games. Chris Paulson, formerly of Activision-Blizzard, will head Games publishing. Meanwhile, Robert Kirkman, the creator of Invincible, will also be heavily involved which is a good sign.

David Alpert, current CEO of Skybound Entertainment had this to say in regards to the upcoming project: “We are thrilled to launch this Regulation Crowdfunding campaign on Republic, inviting fans to join us on this new expansion and venture. At Skybound, we prioritize fostering meaningful connections with our audience, and this initiative allows fans to not only immerse themselves in the world of Invincible but also to directly contribute to its expansion.”

Though there is little detail on the actual game at this point, you can expect high-octane action, gore, and stunning character design, as noted by sections of the campaign page. Furthermore, the team plans on releasing multiple DLC expansions along with competitive and “local play” modes.

Essentially, this promises to be the definitive Invincible game, with the hope of expanding the brand to new horizons. If you are interested in participating in the campaign, the minimum investment is $100 with a goal to raise 5 million before the end of the month. This is certainly an ambitious prospect for the company. Currently, at the time of writing, the campaign sits just above $500,000 out of the 5 million dollar end goal.
