Guilty Gear Strive Adds New Fighter

Season 3 of Guilty Gear Strive will add a brand new fighter to the roster starting on the 26th of this month. A.B.A is the latest character to join the roster and will bring some exciting new gameplay along with her release. This character first debuted in the spin-off game Guilty Gear Isuka released in 2004, and hasn’t been seen much since then. A.B.A is a homunculus created by a scientist in a lab in Frasco, and she wields a sentient magical axe in the shape of a giant key, named Paracelsus. The key drives its wielder into a bloodthirsty rage but for A.B.A this manifests as a jealous infatuation.

In-game, A.B.A’s move set revolves around building up her jealousy meter to enter a jealous rage. While in this state A.B.A’s movement speed increases and her special moves receive variations and damage buffs. She also gains additional special options while within jealous rage allowing for new combo variations that can deal massive damage. In terms of weaknesses, A.B.A struggles with approach options and can be punished if caught without enough jealousy meter within fights. She certainly looks to be a difficult character to master but offers a high skill ceiling for established players to test themselves.

Players who purchase the A.B.A DLC or Season 3 pass will also receive the new stage “Fallen Prayer, Engulfed Lives,” which features a scenic beachfront town. Additionally, the character Millia Rage will receive a brand new aerial special move called Artemis. This option can be used strategically to evade low attacks while pressuring the offense.

It’s great to see lesser-known characters like A.B.A receive some attention once again, especially with some fresh visuals and gameplay. Guilty Gear Strive is available for PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The Season 3 Pass will contain A.B.A along with another upcoming character as well as the fighters Johnny and Elphelt Valentine. Exclusive color skins will also be available through the Season Pass.
