Titan Quest is a classic ARPG that I’ve played through to completion several times over the years. As such, I’ve been keeping an eye on Titan Quest II’s development. A new development diary has shed light on the state of Titan Quest II’s world, including its setting.

Revealed Friday, the dev diary details Sparta specifically, highlighting how it fits into the ancient fantasy world. Here is what the press release has to say about Titan Quest II:

Ah, Sparta! Home to the finest warriors in all of ancient Greece, a marvel of a city, a true superpower on the Peloponnesian Peninsula, protected by its mighty city walls… wait a second. Wasn’t Sparta famous for its walls being its army only? So why can we see Spartans riding home through a massive wall in Titan Quest II’s announcement trailer?

The latest dev diary for the upcoming action RPG Titan Quest II highlights Sparta and explains how Titan Quest II offers a fantastical twist on the actual ancient reality.

Return to the classic mythology-inspired setting of Titan Quest and go toe-to-toe with legendary monsters as you journey across a fantastical reimagining of ancient Greece. Nemesis, Goddess of Retribution, is out of control. She is corrupting the Threads of Fate and condemning all those who oppose her to eternal punishment – including you. Take up your weapon, fight alongside gods, and change fate itself in order to stop Nemesis, free those she’s punished, and weave your own epic tale.

From the creators of SpellForce 3 comes a handcrafted action RPG for a new generation of mythical heroes.”

I’m excited to see what happens with Titan Quest II. As quoted in the dev diary, they aren’t willing to reveal all their secrets yet, but there is more to come. There isn’t a release date yet for Titan Quest II, but please keep an eye out here at Phenixx Gaming. We’ll be following up with further details as the game’s development progresses.
