Freedom Planet 2 Comes to Consoles in April

I’d say of all the indie games that have tried to mimic the style of Sonic the Hedgehog, Freedom Planet is the only one that succeeded in capturing that classic magic. I loved Freedom Planet. To my excitement, Freedom Planet 2 is coming to consoles soon!

XSEED Games shared a new gameplay video for Freedom Planet 2, while also revealing that pre-orders for Xbox are open now. Freedom Planet 2 will be released on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms on April 4^th. Here is what the press release had to say about Freedom Planet 2.

“XSEED Games, the independent-minded publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today announced that Freedom Planet 2, the high-speed retro action-platformer developed by GalaxyTrail, is now available for digital pre-order on the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One family of devices using Smart Delivery, ahead of its release on those platforms, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, and Nintendo Switch™ system in North America on April 4.

The title is currently available for digital pre-order for an MSRP of $24.99 on Xbox platforms and the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch, both discounted 10% off their regular price through April 10. The publisher also shared a new gameplay video showcasing the four heroines of Avalice employing helpful items from Freedom Planet 2’s new [equippable] item system, which players can use to change the rules of the game, dialing the difficulty of the level up or down as they speed through a gorgeous, 2D-pixel world.

Developed by GalaxyTrail and published digitally on PS4™, PS5™, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch system in North America by XSEED Games, Freedom Planet 2 will be released on April 4, 2024. The title is currently available for digital pre-order on the Nintendo Switch system and Xbox platforms for an MSRP of $24.99, with a 10% discount that will be extended through April 10 on all consoles at launch.“

I’m excited to play Freedom Planet 2 at launch. I’m curious to see if they can improve over the almost flawless original. Regardless, fans of games like Sonic the Hedgehog should keep an eye on this one and play the first if you haven’t already.
