I’m a fan of rumors and speculation, I watch wrestling so of course I do. However, the last few days have been rather interesting, though I’ll keep it to the Xbox-PlayStation news rather than The Rock. First reported by Jon Clarke of XboxEra, it was stated that Starfield would be coming to the PlayStation 5 in the coming months following the release of the upcoming expansion, “Shattered Space.” While @NatetheHate2 (known for insider info) is corroborating the report of a PlayStation release.

A day before this, The Verge reported that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle could be heading to the PS5 following an Xbox and PC launch. Between the two major releases, there is a major shift in the supposed console wars that are fought between the two major companies’ fanbases. This also comes weeks after a report by Nate the Hate once again via a podcast on the insider’s YouTube channel, stating that major Xbox titles could be heading to the likes of the Nintendo Switch. It had been rumored that Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming could appear on the Nintendo platform for months.

It wasn’t until midday on Monday that Xbox made an official statement via Phil Spencer on Twitter. Spencer said: “We’re listening and we hear you. we’ve been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.” There are no specifics or a set agenda we know of yet for this update. Once again rumors and innuendo suggest that these ports could be confirmed or more drastic measures could be taken.

One thing that I am more than willing to shoot down right now, though I can’t confirm it, is the suggestion that Xbox is pulling out of the console market. Without a firm basis to say where the Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming eco-systems will go in that event, aside from PC of course, I won’t believe that until it comes from Microsoft itself. Xbox could go the way of SEGA eventually, licensing out its eco-systems and titles to release on other platforms. However, that’s a gradual shift and not one that I think will happen next week.

Hopefully, we’ll get a clearer image of what is next for Xbox as the next couple of years will be interesting. Sony may be moving more towards live service, Nintendo’s next console is expected to be announced, and a whole lot of big games are on the horizon from Xbox acquisitions. It will be interesting to see how the platform as a whole moves forward.
