Monday, we were actually back proper, but it is January so no news. Tuesday, the game based on Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land finally has a release date for later this year. Wednesday, Paradox surprised us all with a Prison Architect 2 reveal and release date, now with an extra dimension. Ace Combat 7 is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and now you can cosplay as someone from Aberdeen or Wales, as the Sins of the Flesh update came to Cult of the Lamb.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store we’re talking platformers this week, in particular, LOVE. Released in 2014, the pixel-based precision platformer from Fred Wood is generally liked but as with all games that are purposefully difficult, some do dislike it. In theory, LOVE is an ode to older arcade titles: You get more than 11 cats’ lives, you can move left and right, and you can jump. However, you also set your own checkpoints. With only 12 levels it sounds simple but in reality will make you bite on bricks to stop the screaming.
All this week you can pick up LOVE on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, the 25th of January. Moving on to next week’s game we have one that I actually have some interest in from the word-go: Infinifactory. Only the third game from Zachtronics, Infinifactory is the one most people would learn about the programmer-focused puzzle developer before later exploding with Exapunks. Dark and comedic, I’m all here for us covering something that gives shades of Douglas Adams but in game form.
