2023 was a great year for gaming, especially for games that are great for families of all ages. This is why I have put together a list of some of the greatest family-friendly video games that would be perfect to get with any leftover holiday cash or to grab during a sale. So let’s dive right into this guide and showcase some of the beautiful games that we have been spoiled with this year!

Moving Out 2

Moving Out 2 is described as “the wacky sequel to the world-famous physics-based moving simulator. Working as a solo F.A.R.T, or with up to three friends, slip into your Smooth Moves uniform and help the residents of Packmore, and beyond, to pack up and ship out!” This is a game that has plenty of goofy action that can keep players of all ages entertained for hours. I had a lot of fun with my friends while playing Moving Out 2, but if you need some additional convincing consider checking out my review right here.

Party Animals

Party Animals is the perfect next-generation version of Gang Beasts! It is also described by the developers of being a game to “make painfully great memories with your friends.” While your friends will certainly rage from time to time, this game will not devastate your friendship like a round of Monopoly. This game is perfect for any family as it combines cute animals with hilarious action that will help to liven up any evening! If you want to hear more about Party Animals, check out my review of it right here.

Disney’s Dreamlight Valley

This one may not entirely count as a 2023 game since it originally launched in Early Access. However, Disney Dreamlight Valley has recently been fully released so it technically counts as a 2023 release. Regardless, Disney Dreamlight Valley is a life-sim adventure that allows you to create a neighborhood with the help of Disney characters. Imagine Animal Crossing, but with Mickey asking you to save his friends rather than Tom Nook breathing down your neck until you pay off your debt. If you are interested in hearing more about the game, consider checking out our first impressions of the game when it was in Early Access right here.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged

Are you and your kids sick and tired of Mario Kart but still feel a need for speed? Then I would recommend Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged. While it may have a name that seems to be too long for its own good. The developers have taken the concept and improved upon a few things that plagued the original. While it isn’t a perfect racing game, it is definitely the best one that we have gotten this year for all ages. If you want to learn more, check out our review of the game right here.

Just Dance 2024

I love the Just Dance games. However, there isn’t much of a point in buying the latest edition unless it has been a few years. Just Dance 2024 includes “Butter” by BTS, “Sail” by AWOLNATION, “vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo, and plenty more. If you intend to buy this year’s edition, I would recommend avoiding the “physical copy” as it is just a plastic box with a code inside. There is no disk or cartridge which is quite disappointing. Hopefully, Ubisoft will put in the bare minimum amount of effort for next year’s physical release.

That is all for this list. If there are any great Family Video Games of 2023, feel free to leave them in the comments below so that everyone can catch up on some of the amazing games of this year!
