Monday, nothing happened because it is December, nothing happens. Anyway, on Tuesday, the GTA VI trailer dropped to become one of the biggest non-music video premieres on the platform, and Botany Manor got its release window. Wednesday, Ark went back into Early Access and the roadmap is out now. Thursday, ahead of the Game Awards (which is covered later today) Wholesome Games did a showcase of some wholesome games and Duck Detective, the best game ever and will beat Baldur’s Gate 3 at the Game Awards. I mean, it is not nominated because it doesn’t release for months, but nothing can beat Duck Detective, maybe.
Moving onto the Epic Games Store, we’ll start with the thing I have no idea about: Why would I, it is a MOBA. Released last November, Omeda Studio’s early-access FPS MOBA Predecessor is generally favored by those who are “in the know.” I’ll be honest, I think last week is the first I’d heard of it. Maybe I’ve seen it before and that’s why I ignore it on Steam, but one of the major points brought up against Predecessor is the grind despite not being a free-to-play title, and this comes from both negative and positive reviews.
Onto game 2 for the week, and it is actually something I’ve played extensively. I didn’t love it, but I did play GigaBash quite a bit for review several months ago. An arcade fighter with the idea that you are playing as kaijus, sometimes on levels that are crumbing which offers something original and sometimes just so you can pick up a building and lob it at legally distinct Godzilla before the DLC kicks in. With people around, GigaBash can be a great hour or two before you find anything else to do. Alone it is less than great.
Most of this week you can pick up GigaBash and Predecessor on the Epic Games Store until the 13th of December. Those who are a little thrown off by my change of typical phrasing might already know what is coming. Starting next week we get the mystery games, though not on Thursday morning. Speculation is that the first mystery game available from Wednesday is going to be Cookie Clicker, which sure is a thing. Others suggest Subnautica Below Zero, SnowRunner, as well as a number of other wild guesses. We’ll find out on Wednesday.
