DLC for Darkest Dungeon II Coming Soon

Though I have found the roguelike genre to be a hit or miss for me, the Darkest Dungeon series is certainly one that I’ve been eager to jump into. The gothic fantasy theme and dense RPG mechanics that are intrinsically linked to the elements of dread and insanity is just my kind of thing. The sequel ups the scale of the original game, allowing you to journey through the decaying, apocalyptic landscape with a new group of heroes and a customizable stagecoach. Players can expect a gripping narrative along with a return of the strategic gameplay and party management systems.

Yesterday, developer Red Hook Studios announced the first wave of DLC that will come to the latest entry within the series, since the initial launch this past May.

The Binding Blade DLC adds two new heroes to Darkest Dungeon II: The Crusader and The Duelist. According to the press release, “The Duelist is a disciplined and deadly combatant capable of tactically switching between defensive and aggressive stances. This formidable presence in your hero lineup can ignore enemy defenses and strike back with Riposte.” Meanwhile, The Crusader is a returning “fan-favorite” from the original game, specializing in front-line combat. The Crusader utilizes Holy Fire to power up melee attacks while supporting his allies with healing and recovery buffs.

Additionally, this DLC will add a new roaming mini-boss called The Warlord. Though there is still little information on mechanics for the boss, the character can be found while journeying toward the Mountain. Hopefully, it can provide a fresh new challenge to players. The Binding Blade DLC will be released sometime in December of 2023 and is available for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. There is still no price point set for the DLC at this time, but for more information regarding future game updates, you can follow the official website.
