Of all the life-sims, Stardew Valley, or Harvest Moon-like games out at the moment (and there are a lot), I think My Time at Sandrock is the only one that looks interesting. The Wild West takes on the hugely popular My Time at Portia (also from Pathea Games). In Sandrock, you’ll ride horses, fight cartoonish villains, and generally build yourself a little life. In an announcement that mostly took us by surprise last week, My Time at Sandrock is out now on both PC (Steam and Epic) and consoles like the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Alongside this announcement of the 1.0 patch for PC players and full release on consoles came a video titled: Greetings from Sandrock/Master Your Life/Meet the People of Sandrock. Between the thumbnail, title, and press release email, it has a different title everywhere, so pick one. Here is what the press release has to say: “My Time at Sandrock is a wholesome sandbox RPG where an exciting Wild West adventure meets the joy of building and nurturing your own plot of land, with a detailed narrative that features hundreds of side-quests and over 40 all-new characters.

[…] Take your new friends out to the local saloon, challenge them to a variety of mini-games, [and] attend events and holidays to unlock new dialogue and quests that reveal a rich tapestry of narratives behind the scenes. Then invite the whole gang back to your place for dinner and drinks to celebrate your latest achievement! As you get your business started as Sandrock’s newest builder, create hundreds of unique items in your workshop, not only to decorate your homestead but also to assist with community requests and give gifts to Sandrock’s residents!

Alongside the announcement of a 1.0 patch came details of the Collector’s Edition. In said Collector’s Edition you’ll get a “Pensky” plush, a wooden replica of the builder’s workshop, a 40-page comic book (in English), standees of Logan and Nia, a builder’s license and an envelope to an envelope, a game code for Steam, as well as two cosmetics. Oddly enough, the press release doesn’t state a price, which is strange given how much detail is given to stuff you’ll get.

PC players will also get to enjoy the “highly anticipated” multiplayer mode which of course comes alongside the 1.0 release. Console players, however, have to wait a little longer. The free update that brings multiplayer to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch is set to come sometime in the Summer of 2024. There is no word on the PS4 release, as of yet, and it is noted that players looking to play on PS4 will have to keep an eye on social media for that announcement.
