Stone Age Farming Sim Roots of Pacha Coming to Consoles

There’s a cozy game for just about every genre and playstyle under the sun, but few travel back in time to the Stone Age. Roots of Pacha does just that, allowing players to explore a farming and life simulation game in the distant past. A new announcement from studio Soda Den revealed the game is also heading to PC and consoles next month. Here’s a look at what to expect at the end of November.

Roots of Pacha will be released for Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation 4 & 5 on Tuesday, November 28, with Xbox versions to follow in 2024. The game launched earlier on Steam and has hosted over 100,000 pre-historic farm enthusiasts to its Stone Age world. With cross-platform support and new quality-of-life improvements from the PC release, console players have a must-have cozy title on the way in time for the holiday season.

As a member of the Pacha clan undergoing the Rite of Passage into adulthood, players help the clan progress into the future. As you do the normal things like farm and talk to your fellow clanspeople, you’ll also discover new technologies and grow your collective into a formidable civilization. You can build new tools, domesticate wild animals, and find ways to maximize your crop yields.

Even commonplace practices today, like food cooling systems and irrigation, are goals for you to strive toward, truly shaping the world as you and your clan know it. Brothers Joni and Timothy Dadone Nasello, founders of Roots of Pacha‘s development studio Soda Den, share that “When you join your friends in Roots of Pacha, you’re not just an afterthought. You’re an important part of the world and a part of their journey.”
