Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Adds New Content

Bandai Namco has unveiled the latest content update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 this week. Xenoverse 2 is one of those games that I’m surprised has stuck around for as long as it has. Of course, it has a powerful brand driving it forward.

However, it’s still interesting to me that even after being released seven years ago in 2016, the game is still receiving significant attention from the developers, especially after releasing Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot in 2020. This was promised to be the definitive RPG experience within the universe. Nonetheless, Xenoverse 2 remains alive and seems to have adopted a live service model that is akin to an MMORPG.

This latest free game update will introduce a completely new game mode to the Xenoverse 2 player-base. Dubbed “Cross Versus” this mode pits two teams of three against one another to battle for supremacy. The mode begins with a power-building phase in which teams are placed on separate maps to collect power-ups and stat boosts. Next, both teams will enter the Boss Arena and compete to see who can defeat the threat the fastest.

This new game mode is also being introduced simultaneously with the latest in-game event, The Festival of Universes. Players will join various factions themed after the universes presented during the Tournament of Power story arc from Dragon Ball Super. Completing various missions or simply playing the game will earn points for your team. Top-ranked members will earn a pool of rewards that alter depending on what faction you join.

Participating in certain game modes can also result in reward bonuses. Lastly, players can also expect a variety of new costumes and accessories that will become available through this latest update. The Festival of Universes update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available for download now on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PS4.
