This week developer Fatshark unveiled a major new update alongside the Xbox Series X/S release of co-op shooter Warhammer 40k: Darktide. This new update promises some huge changes that will certainly alter the core gameplay moving forward.

Alongside some bug fixes with this new patch, Fatshark is completely overhauling the class and feat system within the game. This update introduces brand new skill trees and abilities for the four major classes Veteran, Zealot, Psyker, and Ogryn. Each tree will contain the following upgrade options: Blitz, Combat, Keystone, Talent, Aura, and Stats. Choosing Blitz will unlock a grenade slot for Veteran, Zealot, and Ogryn while the Psyker will receive a brain burst ability.

Combat is self-explanatory and is tied to your specific class. Keystone options reinforce individual playstyles between classes. Talent nodes provide interactive buffs while Auras provide team buffs. Lastly, stat nodes bestow flat increases to the core statistics; toughness, critical chance, and health. Fatshark promises that this new system will feature intuitive design and hope it will allow players to streamline character progression while still allowing for some experimentation.

This new class upgrade system will coincide with the Xbox Series X/S launch of the game. The Xbox version of the game will also include all previous balance patches and game improvements made beforehand to the PC version. Xbox players can purchase either the launch bundle which includes the base game along with 9,300 Aquilas (the game’s premium currency) or the Imperial edition.

This version includes additional costumes, currency, and weapon skins along with the base game and retails for 59.99 while the launch bundle retails for $39.99. Additionally, Darktide will be available on GamePass and this new update will feature crossplay between the PC and console versions. I've been playing games since I was a little kid. I have a soft spot for Nintendo titles and RPG's but play all kinds of titles across a variety of platforms. Outside of games I love to play music and practice martial arts. You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well.
