If you have spent time on Phenixx Gaming at all since we opened in 2019, you’ve probably noticed that I review a lot of RPGs. It is one of my favorite genres and as such it has somewhat become my niché. A new challenger in the RPG arena has arrived with WitchSpring R, which is now on Steam.

WitchSpring R is a standalone RPG that utilizes the characters and world from the WitchSpring mobile series. I’m not all that familiar with the WitchSpring games, but WitchSpring R is a fully standalone, fully realized Turn-Based RPG in the series. It was developed by Kiwiwalks, a three-person team from South Korea, and published by Pixmain. Here is what the press release has to say about WitchSpring R.

WitchSpring R” is an exciting new stand-alone RPG game, that follows the adventures of Pieberry, the beloved protagonist from the “WitchSpring” series. Raised alone in the forest, Pieberry must work tirelessly each day to train, gather resources, craft magical items, and capture animal companions to survive in a world where the Pope and warriors hunt witches.

One fateful day, after eating a pie that awakens her long-forgotten memories, Pieberry decides to leave the forest and embark on a journey to discover her true purpose in life. Along the way, she meets a cast of allies and foes alike, all while overcoming incredible challenges and obstacles.”

WitchSpring R takes inspiration from the mobile games in the series but amps things up and aims to give a more fully realized RPG experience. From daily training that allows you to tailor your characters’ growth, to a 20-hour storyline, WitchSpring R aims to give a premiere experience for fans of the series. If you aren’t familiar with the mobile series, this might be a good place to start.

I’m intrigued by WitchSpring R. I’m always hesitant when a mobile game is turned into a standalone title, but there have been good takes on the formula before. Either way, I’m always excited to come across more RPGs to sink my teeth into.
