SpongeBob: The Cosmic Shake To Receive New Version

This past January saw the release of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. The game was THQ Nordic’s reimagining of the classic SpongeBob platforming games from the GameCube era. The title was also meant as a follow-up to the remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom which was released in 2020 to a positive response.

After an unfortunate incident opens portals to alternate dimensions, SpongeBob and Patrick must adventure through various whimsical “WishWorlds” in order to restore Bikini Bottom and find their lost friends. Now this October, fans can expect to play the game on current generation consoles in addition to PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Those who already own the game on PC can expect to receive a free update which will add additional content and features present in this updated version. The biggest addition to this updated release is the new photo mode, which comes equipped with 19 unique filters. Additionally, players can expect to receive new costumes as rewards for completion achievements. The first is the “King Doubloon” outfit which (as the name suggests) is the completion bonus for finding all the doubloons in the game. There is also the “Plush Gary” costume which is available after unlocking all awards in the game.

Finally, the PlayStation 5 version of the game will contain freshly optimized controller support for the DualSense that will correct small bugs such as the audio output when picking up items. Players can also employ adaptive trigger functionality when using the reef blower and swinging hook items. However, all versions of the game will also receive additional bug fixes that will improve the stability of the overall player experience.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will be released for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on October 16th for the price of $39.99. The costume pack DLC is also available for an additional $9.99. If you can’t wait the game is available now for PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
