Vampire Survivors took the world by storm when it was released last year. Since then, the genre commonly known as “Bullet Heaven” has become increasingly popular. Now it seems that later this month, a new challenger is coming to Early Access.

Developed by Sunpeak Games, an independent development team based out of California, Spell Disk is a Rogue-like with a unique concept. There is a dungeon-crawling mode, and then there is a separate “Survivors” mode that will be familiar to Bullet Heaven fans. Spell Disk will be coming to Early Access on September 18th. Here is what the press release has to say about the game so far.

In “Spell Disk,” players take on the role of a formidable sorceress who must rely on her prowess to craft spells and items, strategically combining them to overcome an ever-growing onslaught of challenges.

The game’s core focus lies in discovering and maximizing the massive synergies in the game. With limitless potential for growth, players will need to delve deep into theorycrafting [sic] and put their builds to the test against relentless foes.

One of the features of “Spell Disk” is its inclusion of the full version of “Spell Disk Survivor.” Survivor Mode is an additional game mode that features a completely different game loop from the main dungeon crawling game. The full game introduces an array of meta progression elements and new characters, enriching the gameplay experience.”

I’m intrigued so far by the idea of Spell Disk. Strangely enough, Spell Disk and Spell Disk Survivor have two separate Steam pages. I’m not sure if they’re a single game or two separate ones being worked on simultaneously. Either way, there are demos available now, and there isn’t that much longer to wait before the upcoming Early Access launch date.
