Today the Pokémon company released a new video presentation regarding current and upcoming titles. There’s a decent amount of news to cover so let’s get into it. The presentation began with some updates and information surrounding the 2023 Pokémon World tournaments that will be hosted in Yokohama, Japan. Attendees can expect to receive a brand new promotional card called Paradise Resort which will have exclusive themed artwork and a themed Pikachu plush.
Moving on came some updates regarding the new Pokémon animated series. The first is a miniseries focused on the trading card game. Dubbed Pokémon: Path to the Peak, the show will premiere on August 11th at Pokémon Worlds.
Additionally, another trailer was shown off for the upcoming Pokémon Horizons Anime series which will be the first series without series protagonist Ash Ketchum. Finally, the last animated project is a series of Youtube animated shorts focused on three students in the Paldea region named Ohara, Aliquis, and Hohma. This series is called Paldean Winds and will premiere exclusively on the Pokémon YouTube Channel.
On the gaming side of things, this presentation showcased new features and events for Pokémon Go, Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Masters EX, Pokémon Café Mix, and even Pokémon Sleep. Go fans can expect an update adding the newest generation of Pokémon. Pokémon Unite will receive a new game mode and add Mewtwo to the roster. Nemona, the main rival character from Scarlet and Violet will be joining Pokémon Masters EX, while Pokémon Sleep will have a special event during the full moon. Café Mix will also hold a new event surrounding the sushi-like Tatsugiri and will offer special in-game rewards to players.
Finally, the presentation concluded with the updates regarding the Detective Pikachu sequel along with Scarlet and Violet DLC expansions. Detective Pikachu Returns will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on October 6th, 2023. This trailer introduced the major characters, such as Pikachu and his partner Tim Goodman along with a cast of NPCs. Over the course of the adventure, Tim and Pikachu work together with Pokémon allies to solve a series of mysterious incidents occurring in the new setting of Ryme City.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is the latest two-part expansion for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This trailer showed off both settings which will take place outside of the Paldea region. Part 1 the Teal Mask received an official release date of September 13, 2023. According to the official press description, “In Part 1: The Teal Mask, players take a school trip to the land of Kitakami, where they join an outdoor study program held jointly between their academy and another school. Players can look forward to meeting Pokémon not found in the Paldea region while unearthing the mysteries behind an old Kitakami folktale.”
The second expansion The Indigo Disk will be released this Winter. Both expansions will feature new and returning Pokémon, new characters, and exclusive forms for legendary Pokemon like Raikou and Cobalion. In the meantime, a special in-game event will run from now until September 18th. This event allows players to receive the mythical Pokémon Mew and battle against his counterpart Mewtwo in raid battles. Both Pokémon will give players exclusive Items and have unique Terra types to augment your team. That’s all for today.
