Star Trek: Resurgence Receives Physical Edition

This week, Dramatic Labs announced that it will be producing the physical version of Star Trek: Resurgence, a narrative adventure set within the popular science fiction universe. Resurgence was previously available only on digital storefronts and will now have an official disc retail version available for purchase on October 6th. This version of the game will be released for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Dramatic Labs also announced a complimentary upgrade package for previous purchases of the digital version. Those who purchased the game digitally on PlayStation 4 are eligible for a free copy of the PS5 digital release. In addition, the newest version of the game will feature expanded language support for German, Latin American Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.

Star Trek: Resurgence is the first major title from Dramatic Labs, which was formed by former Telltale Games developers in the aftermath of the closure. Featuring the studio’s distinctive brand of decision-based storytelling, Star Trek: Resurgence is set after the events of the Star Trek: The Next Generation television series. “Players take on the role of two crew members aboard the U.S.S RESOLUTE on a mission to prevent an eons-old and powerful force from engulfing everything in its wake.”

Kevin Bruner, the former co-founder and CEO of Telltale who now heads Dramatic Labs had this to say on the upcoming release; “As our first post-Telltale adventure, it’s been truly humbling to have Star Trek fans across the world respond to our game so positively. It’s been thrilling to see them spot all the references and call out the accuracy we’ve tried to recreate, down to the tiniest detail. We can’t wait to see more fans make tough decisions aboard the RESOLUTE.” I’m always glad to see games expand into more mediums. It helps broaden the player base and is a great boon for those of us who still enjoy collecting physical discs.
