Monday, Jeffrey was testing my patience as August’s Prime Gaming drops were revealed. Also, the only thing I want to smash when it comes to Nickelodeon is a brick off of all its IP, and the anime-VoyagerJumplight Odyssey is releasing in just a couple of weeks. Tuesday, Mortal Kombat 1 has another trailer out despite releasing in 1992. Wednesday, the first lot from Game Pass was unveiled and it includes two of my absolute favorites. Then on Thursday, the Final Fantasy MMO has been announced to be coming to the Xbox Series X|S.

We’ll move on to this week’s offerings on the Epic Games Store, so we’ll start with the very exciting and not-at-all sarcastic in its extremely difficult or brand new style of Tower Defense gameplay Bloons TD 6. I agree, cartoons are more realistic than my attempts at highlighting my boredom with a repeat double-bill, one of which couldn’t excite me if it tried. A mobile release first and foremost, Ninja Kiwi’s 2018 title bucks the notion we all have on mobile games. Specifically that they are free-to-play, microtransaction-heavy, piles of viscous-y tripe. Instead, this is paid for (usually) and still has microtransactions (up to $55).

From liquid tripe to something from Devolver Digital. I love Loop Hero for a number of reasons, though I mostly yammered on about the dyslexic font being the main one throughout my review upon its release. Four Quarters’ 2021 release is a gorgeous retro-style of art mixed with simple and fun gameplay on a Rogue-like/lite idle loop. With a brilliant bit of depth and absolutely fantastic character design, there is just something charming and wonderful about this very dated look and modern sense of gameplay.

All this week you can pick up Bloons TD 6 and Loop Hero on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, the 10th of August. Moving on to next week we have another double bill and only one notable repeat, as we’ll be talking about the 2013 4X title from Paradox Interactive, Europa Universalis IV. Though if you are less of a strategy buff and more of a book nerd that enjoys a modern twist on the formula, Orwell: Keeping An Eye on You puts you in the shoes of Winston Smith.
