Nickelodeon All Star Brawl Sequel Announced

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was a game that generated a lot of excitement in the online space after the original reveal. However, on release, the game saw an extreme loss of players after the first few weeks and was criticized for lack of content and polish. As a result, the game was quickly overshadowed by the direct competitor Multiversus which entered its’ beta in the same year.

However, it looks as though this lackluster launch hasn’t stopped the developer at Ludosity and Fair Play Labs from taking another crack at breaking into the arena brawler scene. Last week, the studio unveiled a direct sequel to the 2021 title with a short announcement trailer. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 will feature a suite of brand-new characters along with much of the original roster returning. This trailer showcased Squidward and Jimmy Neutron, which are some classic characters who were noticeably missing from the original title.

From the brief gameplay shown, Jimmy looks to rely on gadgets as one would expect given his expertise in science. Meanwhile, Squidward (like most of the Spongebob cast) is equipped with a move set littered with easter eggs and jokes from the series. Most noticeable is the iconic handsome Squidward form, which I am hoping will be playable outside of emotes and victory animations. More new characters will also be joining the roster in the future and you can follow the official social media for updates regarding gameplay and development status.

In addition to new fighters, this sequel boasts upgraded graphics, new stages, and the addition of voice acting as well as a new campaign mode. Time will tell if these new features will be enough to hook players and warrant continued support following the launch. Nonetheless, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. As of now, there is no official release date but the game is available for pre-orders.
