Narrative card-based gameplay masters Weather Factory are gearing up for the next game with a hint of arcane, Book of Hours. This new release comes right off the back of its highly successful 2018 title Cultist Simulator. Set to release on the 17th of August, you’ll build up a library that was destroyed in a fire following fifteen centuries of collecting. The premise is solid, the gameplay is combat-free, and the art direction is beautiful. Despite not personally being fond of card-based titles too often, Book of Hours is something I’ve been excited about since I first saw it recently.

I’d have had this news out when it broke if our schedules didn’t collide. Who said news a day later wasn’t still news? A couple of weeks out, the launch trailer for the upcoming RPG is here highlighting the gameplay we’ll encounter as we rebuild this beautiful (the art team better get a bonus) mansion by the sea. “Restore a crumbling occult library by a winter sea. Build the world’s foremost collection of grimoires and arcana. Master the invisible arts. Book of Hours is a narrative crafting RPG set in a 1930s world of hidden gods and secret histories. What sort of Librarian will you choose to be?”

With nine starting roles, each with 20-40 hours of gameplay, and 101 different endings highlighted in the aforementioned press release, fans of replaying one game lots of times will be more than pleased. Those of us that are quite busy can go lick salt, I guess. Releasing on Steam and GOG for Windows, Mac, and Linux, Book of Hours will be £19.99 or $24.99. Consider me enchanted by the occult librarian premise and absolutely stunning art direction.
